Strong interaction is one of four fundamental forces that are known in the Universe. Strong interaction is the strongest force out of 4 forces as its name suggests and it is responsible for 97% of the mass of the particles in the universe excluding dark matter and dark energy. However, at the same time, it is the least understood because of its property called confinement. For the past one century, particle physicists have strived to break the confinement and reveal the nature of this force by numerous experiments, which developed the QCD (Quantum Chromodynamics). In this colloquium, we will review the history of investigations on strong force, from the early 20th century to the most recent experiments at LHC. Particular highlights will be made on the jet phenomenon at the LHC. The creation of Quark Gluon Plasma using heavy ion collisions will also be introduced as well.
